British study shows link between salt intake and childhood obesity.
A research team from St. George's, University of London found that obese children who have a high salt intake feel thirstier, drink more, and include high calorie drinks in this increased intake.
Taking the children off the high salt diet should lead to a loss of weight. If they cut salt by 50% they would take in 250 fewer calories per week.
Salt and obesity are major contributors to the development of cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.
