Rates of death from cardiovascular disease decreasing: deaths from obesity and diabetes increasing.

Studies in the US and Britain show that US deaths from Coronary Disease have fallen dramatically in studies covering the years 1980-2000.

They could attribte 44% of this decrease to prevention, and 47% to better treatment.

At the same time Americans increased in body weight (BMI - Mody Mass Index.) This is associated with increased death from obesity and diabetes, although this increase was not as much as the overall decrease from Cardiovascular Disease.
